Greenwich Firefighters Fill-the-Boot
You've seen us out there on the streets. But with our boots in our hands, not on our feet.
Every year in August we set ourselves up on the busiest street corners in Greenwich. With boot in hand, we count on your generosity to help us raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). Over the last ten years we have raised nearly $100,000. All of this money is passed on directly to the MDA.
As career firefighters, we are part of a nationwide effort for the MDA (Jerry's kids). The tradition began in 1952, when firefighters in Boston raised money for kids with muscular dystrophy in the Boston area. Since then it has spread into an annual nationwide campaign. Career firefighters throughout the nation have raised nearly $300 million for Jerry's kids. Greenwich Firefighters Local 1042 is proud to be a part of this tradition.
So please, this summer, when you see us on the street corners with boot in hand, make a donation and help us in this fight against muscular dystrophy.
The dollars you put in our boots are critically important to the mission of the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
